Subramanian Ramamoorthy

Subramanian RamamoorthySubramanian Ramamoorthy is a Lecturer in the School of Informatics, with research expertise in learning and decision making in interactive settings. He received a PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The University of Texas at Austin, in 2007. He has twice been a finalist for the Best Paper Award at major international conferences – ICRA 2008 and IROS 2010, and serves in editorial and programme committee roles for several conferences and journals in the areas of artificial intelligence and autonomous robotics. He leads Team Edinferno, the first UK entry in the Standard Platform League at RoboCup. This work has resulted in significant public engagement activities, including at the Royal Society Summer Science Exhibition, the Edinburgh International Science festival and the National Museums of Scotland. During 1999 – 2007, he was a Staff Engineer with National Instruments Corp. in Austin, where he was responsible for five products in the areas of motion control, computer vision and dynamic simulation. This work resulted in several US patents and industry awards for product innovation.
